Steam Story:
I came to learn about Vaginal Steaming whilst reconnecting with my body through witch and wild women literature. When I came across the practice in a book I instantly wanted to know more about healing affects of steam. I was experiencing a disconnect with my body in general but especially with my periods and something about this practice spoke to me as the way to regain that lost connection. I came across the Steamy Chick website and all the incredible knowledge Keli Garza was offering. I have completed her facilitator 101 course and been steaming for myself ever since. The results have seen my actual period be healthier, which I can tell by the lack of brown discharge I was experiencing a few days either side of my period before I started to steam. I no longer experience cramping, my moods have been lighter and my flow shorter with less irregular discharge at the end of my period. I also suffer from thrush/candida but since steaming I have less and less out breaks, this is also connected to taking better overall menstrual care and changing my diet.
The practice of steaming has given me a practical tool to address issues that as a women I assume I just have to put up with. Well, I now know I don’t and neither do you. I wanted to complete the facilitator course, to gain the skills to safely practice on myself but also to have the option to support other people with a uterus to feel empowered to do the same.
