In Palau vaginal steaming is an established part of postpartum care. As a celebration of a woman surviving childbirth and to help her body recover, the Palauans do a “hot bath”. For 30 days the new mom receives baths, oils, massages, nourishment, herbs and vaginal steams. At the end of the 30 days a ceremonial reception is performed where she dances and is gifted money .
