In 2018, researchers from Pusan National University’s Department of Korean Obstetrics and Gynecology did a systematic review of the effects of vaginal steaming as a treatment for yeast infections. Researchers looked through databases to find existing studies on the topic and successfully identified 5 studies that met their standards — steaming had to be used in isolation and control groups had to be included. All 5 studies showed that vaginal steaming was an effective treatment for yeast infections. The authors recommend a study with a higher quantity of participants in order to further explore these positive outcomes.
